Conor Murphy

Conor is passionate about driving socio-economic impact in OIC countries and facilitating south-south cooperation. With 30 years’ experience in banking, finance and international development working with big-4 accounting firm, global consultancy firms, AAA-rated regional development bank and his own businesses to his repertoire he holds executive and board positions for multiple companies in profit and not-for-profit sector and has worked and consulted in the areas of start-up advisory, business strategy, financial risk management, corporate governance, and audit.

Conor has consulted for governments, private sector and the third sector in multiple sectors in Middle East, Central Asia and Africa and has worked on millennium debt relief for African countries in coordination with Paris Club, IMF and World Bank. He has specialised in assessing entire national financial eco-systems to drive greater financial inclusion for the unbankables.

Conor holds three university degrees with a master’s degree in physics from Oxford University and is a qualified chartered accountant from ICAEW, UK and leadership training from Thunderbird School of Global Management (Arizona).

He was born and raised in Jersey, Channel Islands and resides in Birmingham, U.K. with his wife and two children. After many years as an evangelist in Christian churches, Conor embraced Islam in 1998 and has studied under a number of scholars in Saudi Arabia and UK.
